Interview with Pierno Binaghi, meteorologist

Last Friday, during my radio show for the Swiss Broadcasting (RSI), I had the opportunity to interview Pierno Binaghi, meteorologist, former helicopter pilot and aeronautical engineer, and presenter of television weather heading of CSR. Here is a summary of the highlights of his comments on the alleged phenomenon of "Chemtrails." The transcript is faithful and just omit the "ducks" and colloquial expressions are present in every interview.

Binaghi: S ia the academic point of view, as you wanted to remember, both for the weather, in short, is an issue on which the audience often took me, because actually it is a question that bounces on the Internet for a long time. There are lots of things to say about these trails. I play surprise, in this sense, that is: they are natural trails? No. They are man-made trails in the sense that they are produced by the engines of aircraft flying at high altitudes. They are made from chemicals? Yes, they are made from chemistry, because we have inside of carbon monoxide, nitrogen oxides, unburned kerosene have inside, but it is these elements that act as an anchor point aggregation and condensation, the so-called condensation nuclei, water vapor, the gaseous state that is to be invisible, but if it is in high concentrations, that is, if the air is very moist, is great fun to return to the visible state, say liquid and solid even then, because these trails are made by tiny ice crystals. Then the water vapor solidifies instantly on these elements that are dispersed by jet engines. Now that these contrails persist for a long does not always happen, because we all have noticed that on some days the trails are persistent and on other days but the plane leaves a trail of very short or no leaves at all. And why this happens? Because the motors are operated in the same way, but it is because the characteristics of air at that altitude are variable, dare I say, minute by minute, hour by hour, that there is never the same situation, the air never occurs in the same configuration, with the same face every day, so when the air is more humid the trails are more persistent.

Attivissimo: on persistence, it is true, as stated in the documentary [Bye Bye Blue Sky, which aired a few days before the CSR], that a wake that lasts more than two minutes is considered abnormal and suspect?

Binaghi: But no! Contrails can last a lot because if, if the air is so humid that it thus gave way to steam to produce a large amount of ice crystals, well, they must change the conditions. First of all, the trail has gradually disperse, there must be twenty, and yet if the winds aloft are weak this is not conducive to the dispersion of contrails. But not only the characteristics of the air must change, must change, it is clear that it can persist for days the same trail.

Attivissimo: And if someone decides to do tomorrow to start spraying chemicals into the sky, meteorologists you know it.

Binaghi: Then, I will not rule out that there are given the time then [laughs] , dictators or heads of state who may secretly want to experience the way of war based on air dispersion mixtures of harmful, poisonous, etc., and we think that we are free. But we must be certain to prove it. Then, the data that we have at our disposal enable us to understand that according to all the photographs that have emerged - then we could do well on the photographs of great distinction - these phenomena are due to the phenomenological feature that I have just briefly summarized. I make a recorded right on the photographs, perché oggi giorno è facilissimo anche camuffare le fotografie.

Attivissimo: Infatti gli esperti hanno notato che ci sono molte fotografie di questo genere che sono state manipolate per farle sembrare più drammatiche. Quindi possiamo stare tranquilli in sostanza?
